Many of the world’s biggest technology firms revealed their latest and greatest TVs at CES 2019 last week.

and both Sony and Samsung went large with the firm’s launching giant 98-inch 8K models. was in Las Vegas at this yearly technology extravaganza and, having seen many of these new TVs, were certainly left impressed by what’s arriving later this year.

However, perhaps the television that made the biggest impact on us came from Panasonic.

The Japanese company launched its new GZ2000 model at CES and it arrives packing a very clever trick up its sleeve which could prove hugely popular.

Instead of going bigger, thinner or rollable, Panasonic’s new GZ2000 is all about the audio it can produce.

This 4K TV is the world’s first with built-in upward-firing speakers capable of delivering Dolby Atmos.

This technology means sound appears to move around the room in a three-dimensional space, so you are made to feel like you are fully immersed inside the action.

Having heard the new GZ2000 in action, the sound it delivers is nothing short of incredible with audio appearing to hit your ears from all angles.

In fact, it’s hard to believe that the TV is producing such an experience without the need for extra surround sound speakers.

With many TV’s getting thinner and bezel-free, consumers have been left needing to buy extra audio technology, such as soundbars, to boost their viewing experience but the GZ2000 should indicate the need for this.

“Together, Dolby and Panasonic are bringing best in class audio and imaging technology to Panasonic’s TVs,” said John Couling, Senior Vice President, Commercial Partnerships. “Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos perfectly complement the GZ2000’s advanced display, transforming it into an entertainment powerhouse.”

As well as better audio, Panasonic says they have also worked hard to improve the visuals on the new TV.

With a faster and more powerful HCX PRO Intelligent processor the GZ2000 can produce improved detail and accuracy with less motion blur visible on the screen.

This is also the world’s first OLED TV to support both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR as well as HLG Photo, the new still image format which brings still photography into the HDR world.

Panasonic says the bespoke Professional Edition 4K OLED panel has been exclusively customised by Panasonic R&D engineers and this has resulted in even greater control of the parameters that affect picture quality.

In particular, the average brightness level has been boosted significantly and contrast handling improved, resulting in increased dynamic range.

Like most modern televisions, the new model from Panasonic also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing users to operate some key TV functions, just using their voice.

The GZ2000 will be available in 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes.

There’s currently no official release date or price but this is definitely one to watch out for this year.
